Customs duties and import taxes when buying from China
Customs duties and import taxes are assessed by the destination country or region, not by the product seller or automatically included in the product price. Responsibility for any customs charges depends on the destination and shipping terms; customs authorities make the final determination.
Who decides what is charged
The destination customs authority determines classification, valuation, and any duties or taxes according to its own rules. The carrier or a customs broker may collect those amounts, but Orivoya cannot set or guarantee the final assessment.
Common costs at the border
- Import duties or customs duties
- Value-added tax, sales tax, or other destination taxes
- Customs brokerage or processing fees
- Inspection, storage, or handling charges
- Return or destruction costs if an item is refused
Why an exact total is hard to promise
Tariff classification, declared value, de minimis thresholds, currency conversion, and rule changes vary by destination and can change between quote and arrival. We provide an honest framework, not a guaranteed tax calculation.
What to check before you buy
- The destination's import rules for the product category
- Any required permits, labeling, or documentation
- Who will be responsible for duties under the chosen shipping terms
- Whether the item could be refused, taxed, or returned at the border
What we will and will not do
We help with accurate descriptions and do not assist with false declarations, gift labels to avoid tax, or understated customs values. This page is general information and is not legal, tax, or customs advice for a specific shipment.
Frequently asked questions
Are customs charges included in the product price?
No. Unless the shipping terms explicitly say otherwise, product price and destination customs charges are separate. The seller does not normally control the destination assessment.
Can Orivoya tell me my exact duty rate?
We do not provide guaranteed tax or duty calculations. The destination authority makes the final assessment, and you should confirm destination rules with official sources.
Will you label my parcel as a gift to reduce customs?
No. We do not help with false descriptions, gift declarations, or understated customs values.
What if customs rejects my item?
We will discuss the options with you if a shipment is refused, but we cannot promise that every product will clear customs or that return or destruction costs will be avoided.
